Birds - Avian Rescuers    

Bird Adoption Groups  - BirdAdoption.org - Bird Adoption - Adopt a parrot or another captive bird instead of contributing to the homeless bird problem by buying from a breeder. Educate yourself on proper bird care BEFORE adopting a bird. They make difficult, demanding 'pets' because they are wild animals!

Shelter Friends Rescue - Shelter Friends Rescue's purpose is to save special dogs in kill shelters from being euthanized. We rescue dogs throughout the United States by pulling them on their last day, and transporting them to screened foster homes in New England where they are loved until they are matched with a wonderful adoptive person or family.  All our dogs are currently in foster homes throughout New England while awaiting their forever home.  FOSTER HOMES URGENTLY NEEDED TO SAVE SWEET LIVES!!

Breed OrderDog rescue groups are in breed order from this point down.  If you don't find the breed you are looking for, try contacting several of the rescue groups and animal shelters and ask them where you can find the breed you are looking for.  Most likely, somebody will be able to help you.  Some rescues will rescue other breeds other than what they specialize in.  So tell them, what your looking for and see if they can find that breed through their network of connections.  

Afghan Hound Rescue of New England  - We are a non-profit organization.  We service CT, ME, MA, NH, RI and VT.  

New England Airedale Rescue - we find homes for Airedales whose previous homes have disappeared.  

Alaskan Malamute Rescue of New England - is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for homeless Alaskan Malamute dogs.  AMRONE serves Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association - ACDRA helps with rescue ONLY in the Mid-and North-Atlantic regions of the US - that includes the area from North Carolina north through Maine.

Collie Rescue League of New England - We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing any pure-bred Collie in need of a home. We rely on foster homes throughout New England to care for our Collies.

English Bulldog Rescue and Adoption - The Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network (BCARN) has volunteers working throughout the US and some in Canada.  

New England English Springer Rescue - is a group of volunteers that rescue stray, abandoned, relinquished or impounded English Springer Spaniels in the New England and New York areas and provides foster care, with the eventual goal of adoption.  We are a nonprofit organization.  We're always looking for dedicated foster homes, who make rescue possible.

German Shorthaired Pointers Rescue of New England - is an all-volunteer organization committed to finding loving, permanent homes for German Shorthaired Pointers in need.  We place GSPs with families in our coverage area of CT, MA, RI, VT, NH and ME. In addition, we work cooperatively with GSP Rescue in NY state.  

Golden Retriever Rescue Lifeline, Inc. - We are headquartered in Maine with branches all over New England. We have dedicated a portion of our life in rescuing and placing in forever homes the breed we have learned to love.  Our rescued dogs are all housed in private foster homes throughout New England where we learn about the dogs personality, likes and dislikes.  GRRLL needs volunteers to help with home visits and fostering. New England Amphibian & Reptile Rescue - Our purpose is the rescue, rehabilitation & adoption of abandoned, abused & unwanted reptiles, as well as education of the general public.  We currently cover the entire State of Maine. Don't forget to check your local shelter.  They do get a variety of small critters in that need a loving home.  Also, ask if you can have your name put on a list to give you a call if any arrive at the shelter for you to adopt.
